NECK PAIN

Neck pain can develop from poor posture or after waking up. It can occur in the neck and travel to the shoulders, hands, or back of the head. Continuous use of computers and mobile phones is now a common cause.

AYURVEDIC VIEW OF NECK PAIN

In Ayurveda, neck pain is classified under Vata Vyadhi. Conditions such as Greevagraha and Sandhigatha Vata involve Vata dosha vitiation with Kapha or Pitta or the presence of Ama (toxins). Contributing factors include depletion of Dhatus, dehydration, Vata aggravating foods, sleeplessness, suppression of urges, and heavy work.

Muscle Spasm

Muscle spasms are painful contractions and tightening of the muscles, ranging from minor aches to severe pain and stiffness.

Cervical Spondylosis

Cervical spondylosis is the degeneration of the vertebrae and discs in the neck, leading to pain, stiffness, and radicular symptoms.

Intervertebral Disc Prolapse/Bulge/Herniation

This condition involves the inner soft portion of the disc protruding out of the fibrous outer wall, causing pressure on surrounding nerves. Symptoms include:

Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of arthritis that leads to stiffness, pain, or loss of range of motion in the neck.
