Contact dermatitis is inflammation of the skin that occurs after direct contact with allergens or irritants. It may develop suddenly or after repeated exposure to certain substances.

The condition is common in individuals exposed to chemicals, cosmetics, metals, and environmental allergens.

The condition arises due to vitiation of Doshas—especially Pitta and Kapha—with involvement of Rakta Dhatu, leading to itching, redness, and inflammation.

Treatment focuses on eliminating causative factors and restoring Dosha balance.
