Gouty Arthritis Treatment in Ayurveda
Ayurvedic management for metabolic arthritis caused by uric acid imbalance, focusing on inflammation control, detoxification, and lifestyle correction.
What is Gouty Arthritis?
Gouty Arthritis is caused by excess uric acid in the blood. Uric acid forms needle-like crystals that get deposited in joints, triggering acute inflammation.
It commonly presents as sudden, severe pain, redness, and swelling in joints, most frequently at the base of the big toe. If left untreated, gout can become chronic and lead to formation of hard nodules called Tophi.
Common Symptoms
- Sudden onset of severe joint pain
- Redness, swelling, and warmth over joints
- Commonly affects the big toe joint
- Recurrent acute attacks
- Formation of tophi in chronic cases

In Ayurveda, Gouty Arthritis can be correlated with Vatha Raktha.
In this condition, Vatha Dosha and Raktha Dhathu are vitiated, leading to severe pain, inflammation, and discoloration of joints.
