Ayurvedic View of Respiratory Tract Disorders (Pranavaha Srotas Vyadhi)
According to Ayurveda, respiratory tract disorders arise from dysfunction of Pranavaha Srotas (the respiratory channels). The root cause is primarily the vitiation of Kapha Dosha, often associated with Vata imbalance and weakened Agni (digestive and metabolic fire).
Nidanas (causative factors) such as exposure to dust, smoke, cold air, irregular food habits, intake of heavy and mucus-producing foods, suppression of natural urges, and unresolved infections lead to Ama (toxins) accumulation, obstructing respiratory channels and impairing normal breathing.
